Hello! I’m Aaron Kardell. In this Sunday newsletter, I pick one random topic weekly to go deep on and have some disparate quick hits at the end.
This weekend consisted of time with the family, coding on a passion project as the weather worsened, and a housing chore went awry. Let’s just say our dryer will be out of operation for at least a little while longer and I’ll never look at cleaning dryer vents quite the same way.
I keep wanting to write up my thoughts on how fast AI is moving and some takeaways I have. I started drafting something this week but felt it was too surface-level and didn’t give the topic the time and attention I wanted to. Also, with every passing week, there’s an exponential rate of advancements, and what I would’ve written a week ago is old news. I will write an extensive post on the topic soon, but suffice it to say… this technology continues to blow my mind. As just one example, ChatGPT helped me write some code faster on that passion project this weekend.
Friday, we closed on a property in the city of Minneapolis. We hope to be breaking ground on a new build in two months and moving in about a year from now. (Housing projects always go 100% to plan, right?) I’m super grateful for the opportunity and think we’re at the right stage of life for this. I also suspect we still don’t know what we’ve gotten ourselves into.
I’m still trying to find the right balance on what to write on and how much to write each week. Many of my initial posts were 800-1,400 words, and more lately have been half that. For now, I’m just trying to do my best to not break the chain and keep writing. I’m honored that the subscriber list continues to grow, even if my posts are sometimes pithy.
This Week’s Quick Hits
Comedian Alexis Gay had a funny bit on justifying buying tickets to the Eras Tour that just happened to be after last week’s Taylor Swift post. It’s got me thinking.
Speaking of Taylor Swift, my son was mortified by my post last week. “Why would you post that publicly?” Sorry bud! :)
